The boreen is essentially Irish, a small road in the middle of nowhere that invites to explore and discover, a road that can lead anywhere, into the forest, to the coast, into the mountains, or into the bog. Wild Boreen is a partnership between Sally Vince, editor, publisher and the proprietor of Banner Books, natural history photographer and author Carsten Krieger, and entomologist, naturalist and author Nick Larter.

With images and words we will guide you along that boreen, and bring you to some of Ireland’s most wonderful places, show you around breathtaking landscapes and fascinating habitats, and introduce you to the plants and animals living there. 

Currently we are working on our first three natural history guide books - with support from the Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark - which will cover County Clare. The first in this series will explore the natural heritage of West Clare and will be published in summer 2026. In addition we are also working on events, workshops and presentations, videos, and a whole lot of other ideas.
